From pre-production and composition right through to full length album mastering we can accommodate your every requirement at affordable prices. Rapunzel studios has a fun and relaxed creative atmosphere without any arrogance or pretense.

 Rates

Price will vary greatly depending on your needs so please get in touch to discuss your requirements and we will give you a quote. Much the same as a carpenter would do we make a quick assessment of each job and the work involved and provide a quote.

Here at Rapunzel we like to work on a per song, per 3 songs or per album basis as we feel this gives the artist a pressure-free environment to create in without the constant clock watching of working to an hourly rate. The other benefit of this is that your sounds will receive the attention they deserve at the mixing stage. Mixing is a very important and time-consuming part of the recording process and we feel that to do this with time constraints will never reap the best results, we will work on your records until you are happy with them. This way there are no surprises and no extra costs if things take a little longer to get perfect.

Production

If you have some songs that you'd like to expand on and add other instruments to or if you have a certain vision for your music then Rapunzel Studios is probably the best and most cost effective place to do it in the west country. George Arnold is our studio engineer and producer and he has a working knowledge of many types of music from Folk to Rock to Hip-Hop to Reggae to Pop and to many types of world music and when you understand the music and its different components, you can understand how to make the record.

Session playing

George is a proficient session musician and can play Double Bass, Sousaphone, Guitars, Drums, trumpet and a bit of Cello as well as programming electronic elements. Being a multi-instrumentalist George is well versed in many types of music from trad folk and trad jazz to many types of rock, indie, pop and hip hop he has also played in many world music styles from Balkan to Cumbia, Reggae, Forro and the latin styles.

So if you’re looking for something special to add to your song or just some gentle accompaniment we have it covered. We can also provide full original backing tracks.

We have recorded many musicians over the years and have a little black book of great instrumentalists we can call upon if there are any other instruments you require.

Choral and orchestral

Using world-class microphones, preamps and outboard gear we have a totally portable rig which is ideal for recording choral pieces or classical music recitals in churches or concert halls. Our portable rig is discreet and unobtrusive.

Remote and location recording

If you'd prefer to record in the comfort of your own home or if you have your own practice space where you have everything set up, we can come to your space and record you there. We will bring all the vital equipment with us and some acoustic treatment material to make the recording then mix and master the audio back at the studio.

Live gig recording

If you want to capture the energy of your live shows then we can bring our mobile rig to your gig and make a multitrack recording of your show which we will then mix and master in the studio. This can be a very time and cost efficient way of releasing your next album. Those who do a lot of touring know that sometimes you go and play the same venue every year and sometimes the audience are the same people as last year and most of them have already bought all your albums. Quickly release a live album so you've got something to sell!

Gift Sessions

Do you have a musical friend who needs a little helping hand? We do gift sessions which can be done on a per song basis. We can also provide backing tracks if you want to sing a cover version - ideal for stag or hen dos or corporate team building exercise.

Video

We can provide fully professional music videos directed by the award winning Margarita Leonore. Whether you want a conceptual video clip or just a film of you playing live then Rapunzel studios is the place.  We also do a series of Videos in the studio called Behold! Please take a look at our video services in more detail.

Re-amping

We have a collection of vintage and modern, valve and solid state guitar amps and a custom built reamp box so if you want to hear your guitar recorded through vintage Vox, Marshall, Fender, Gibson or Roland amps just send me the DI’d guitar and we can reamp them in our studio using our amazing mic collection. We have a small selection of pedals too, some of which we built ourselves.

Online services

Do you record at home? Or do you have some multitrack files recorded that you've never gotten round to finishing? We use some of the finest outboard gear and world class plug ins on every mix which gives us the advantage over most studios in Devon and the south west. Just send us the files and we will do a professional, radio ready mix and master which will leave you sounding better than you could imagine.
