My mix vs. your mix.

I recently had a client who had recorded at home and got the results mixed by another mix engineer in the Devon area but she wasn't happy with the results. I just wanted to show you what I did to one of her songs because I think the difference is quite striking.

Here is the first mix done by someone else:

They are the exact same take of the vocal and guitar. Personally I much prefer my mix. I made the guitar more 3 dimensional I put the vocal quite close (up front) to reinforce that nice intimate quality she has and I gently tuned a few of the slightly off notes that she sings. The client also wanted some accompaniment so I played some drums, double bass, trumpet and clarinet on the song - super simple so as not to take any of the focus away from her voice.
